Introduction : NALSAR University of Law was established under the Andhra Pradesh Act 34 of 1998 as a fully residential university engaged in teaching and promoting research in law and allied disciplines. Introduction : The Faculty of Law, University of Delhi has achieved the distinction of being a premier institution in the field of legal education not only in India but also in South-East Asia . The Faculty has the privilege of constant interaction with the Bench and the Bar, including the Supreme Court of India and being consulted by the Law Commission, Government of India and different Ministries on various important legal issues. Introduction : On being invited by the Government of West Bengal to establish a national level institution of excellence in higher learning in law in 1999, renowned academician and former founder director of NLSIU, Bangalore , Prof. N.R. Madhava Menon came out after retirement to set about establishing NUJS. Subsequently, the West Bengal Legislature adopted the West Bengal NUJS Act, 1999 to create the fourth National Law University after Bangalore , Hyderabad and Bhopal . ILS Law College , Pune was established in the year 1924 by the Indian Law Society, Pune which was founded by several legal luminaries based in Pune. Earlier the college was affiliated to the University of Bombay but after the establishment of the University of Pune in 1948, it became a constituent college of Pune University . Introduction: Government Law College , Mumbai was established in the year 1855. In 1860 it was affiliated to Bombay University which was established two years later, i.e. in 1857. GLC, Mumbai is, therefore a historical institution in Indian history of legal education. Introduction: Symbiosis Society was established in the year 1971, registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 in Pune, the educational and cultural capital of Maharashtra . Introduction : The National Law University, established by National Law University Jodhpur Act, 1999 (Act 22 of 1999), is the fifth National University for Legal Education in the country following the institutions at Bangalore, Hyderabad, Bhopal and Kolkata. NLU, Jodhpur is a bold experiment in legal education as it claims to be truly multi-disciplinary. Introduction: The Department of Law, was established in 1870 as Law School at Lahore (Now in Pakistan ). In 1909, it was made Law College under the Punjab University . After partition Law College was shifted to East Punjab . A good number of distinguished personalities have been the alumni of this department of the Punjab University . A person who has passed one of the following examination shall be eligible to join LL.B. Course. Bachelor's Degree in any Faculty of Punjab University with at least 45% marks in the aggregate; or degree in any Faculty of another University recognized by the Punjab University and the Bar Council of India securing at least 45% marks in the aggregate.

Introduction: Legal studies in Hyderabad dates back to 1888 with the opening of the law and judicial test classes. They were abolished in 1923 when the Law Department was constituted in Osmania University . There was further expansion when the LL.M. Course was instituted in 1942. The Faculty offers both regular and evening programmes.
The Faculty of Law, Osmania University has a glorious history of more than 100 years. The Law class was opened in the year 1899 to give instruction in law to students desirous of legal profession along with 'Judicial Test' classes for Judicial Officers. Thus teaching of Law started even before Osmania University came into existence in the year 1919.

NATIONAL UNIVERSITY OF ADVANCED LEGAL STUDIES, KOCHI
Introduction: The National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) has been established to be a national level institute of excellence in higher learning of law in the State of Kerala by the Government of Kerala by virtue of the Act 27 of 2005. The curriculum, teaching methods and examination system shall be quite unlike in any conventional colleges in the country. The Bar Council of India has recommended 37 subjects (including 4 training courses) for the 5 years LL.B Course. However, the NUALS is offering 40 to 50 subjects with nearly one-third of them providing wide variety of options to the students. The students shall be required to write projects in each subject, they may also be asked to involve in extension activities like legal aid services, clinical projects like woman and law, media and the law, environment and the law etc. Placement for a period of at least one month every year may be resorted to by the University as an important component of the course. The students will be conferred with B.A, LL.B (Hons.) Degree at the end of 5 years.

Admission : No candidate shall be admitted for the First Semester of B.A., LL.B (Hons.) Degree unless he/she has passed the Plus Two Examination of the Government of Kerala or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto by this university with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate and has secured not less than 50% marks in the entrance examination. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes shall be eligible for a relaxation of 5% of the minimum marks.

Introduction: The Faculty of Law, Jamia Millia Islamia was established in 1989 making its modest appearance in the field of legal education by introducing a three-year LL.B. programme. Over the past one and a half decade, the Faculty has made significant progress in terms of restructuring of courses and syllabi, introducing new courses, experimenting with innovative techniques of imparting legal education and strengthening its clinical programme in order to give due emphasis to the expanding horizons of legal profession.
In its continuous endeavour in this regard, the Faculty has since introduced a five years integrated B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) Programme from the academic session 2002-2003 replacing the three years LL.B. Course, a two years (four semester) Post-graduate Programme (LL.M.) in three specialized streams of Personal Laws, Corporate Laws, and Criminal Laws, and a Ph.D. programme, both of them having commenced from the academic session 2000-2001.

Introduction: It was established in 1926 in the uplands of Visakhapatnam with Kailasa Hill as the backdrop and Bay of Bengal in its front. The University is spread in a sprawling campus of 200 hectares dotted with more than 100 buildings. Presently the University is catering the Educational needs of five green districts namely Visakhapatnam , East Godavari, West Godavari , Vizianagaram and Srikakulam. There are 575 affiliated colleges spread across five districts under the territorial jurisdiction of Andhra University . Army Institute of Law, Mohali
Introduction: The Army Institute of Law (AIL) was established in July 1999 under the aegis of Army Welfare Education Society (AWES). AIL was inaugurated by Lt. Gen. H.B. Kala, PVSM, AVSM , SC , the then GOC-in-C HQ. Western Command on 15 July, 1999. It shifted to its permanent location at Sector-68, Mohali on 21 July, 2003. AIL Mohali was inaugurated by Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, President of India on 01 Dec., 2003. The Institute is running 5-years degree course in law after 10+2, primarily for the wards of serving and ex-servicemen of Army. However 20 per cent seats are available for the civilians also. Out of this 15 per cent. are reserved for Punjab Residents and 5 per cent. for All India Civil Category.

Introduction: It was previously known as the Bangalore Government Law College . Prof. Narayan Rao was the first Principal of the college. With the establishment of the Bangalore University in 1964, ULC was brought under the Faculty of Law of Bangalore University. ULC only offered a three-year post-graduate LL.B. program till 1986. In the year 1982, Prof. Dr. V.B Coutinho became the Principal of ULC. Introduction : The School of Law and Legal Studies (SLLS) was established at the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University in Delhi in 2000. Initially offering only the five-year integrated B.A.LL.B. programme, it has recently started a masters programme as well. Situated at a little distance from Kashmere Gate, this campus is easily accessible from anywhere in New Delhi . The semester system is followed with each semester consisting of seven courses, for first eight semesters. The ninth semester works on lines of specialization, where out of eleven optional subjects, the students pick two along with two compulsory subjects and one research paper. In the last semester, the students complete internship programmes and submit projects on the work they have done.

Introduction: The Law Department functioned in Muir College from 1872 onwards till the new building for Law Faculty of immense architectural beauty was constructed around 1910, adjacent to Senate House on the northern side by the donations provided by the Oudh Bar Association. However this building (now being used by Department of English Studies) did not possess suitable and sufficient accommodation for the fast expanding Law Library and for holding of tutorials in LL.B. Classes which was made compulsory by the Bar Council of India. The Law Department was shifted to the new building which was constructed by UGC grants in the Chatham Lines campus for which Hon'ble Mr. A.K. Sen, the then Law Minister of India, had laid the foundation stone in 1965. The transfer of Law Department to the new building was completed in early 1980s. Till 1955 when principle of rotation for the Dean among Professors was introduced, the Head of Law Department was also the Dean of the Law Faculty.
